Poznań Parish Church (Fara)

The Fara, officially the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St Mary Magdalene, is one of the most magnificent Baroque churches in Poland. Construction began in 1649 and took more than 50 years.

What to see

The organ, built in 1876 by Friedrich Ladegast, the famous organ builder from Weissenfels. It has 2,579 pipes, the largest of them 6 metres long.

After the concert, at about 12:45, you can join a guided visit. There are three routes: the interior of the church (30–40 minutes), hidden places (the sacristy and the Baroque chapter house) and the crypts.

Organ concerts

For more than twenty years a concert has been held on the Ladegast organ every Saturday at 12:15.

For PLN 5 per person you can also go up to the choir loft with the organist and see the instrument up close.

Good to know

The church is open every day, but the parish asks visitors not to tour it during Mass.
