History
The first plans for the park appeared in 1928, and in 1931 a competition was announced for developing the so-called Cybina Green Wedge. Work began only after the city had been rebuilt from wartime destruction.
The park was opened on 16 July 1966 as the first of five newly designed city parks. Finishing work lasted until 1970.

For families
In the northern part of the park there is a traffic town where children learn the rules as pedestrians and cyclists. It is also useful before a cycling-licence exam.
