Castle Garden (Ogród Zamkowy)

The Castle Garden of the Victims of Katyn and Siberia is the former private garden of Emperor Wilhelm II's residence, by the north wall of the Imperial Castle, at the corner of Aleje Niepodległości and ul. Fredry.

History

Part of the garden was the Rose Garden with the Lion Fountain. The main part served as an intimate “salon” with a semicircular square and an avenue of limes. The garden was a symmetrical reflection of Mickiewicz Park on the other side of Aleje Niepodległości.

In 2001–2004 the garden was renovated and the wrought-iron fences were recreated. It has borne its present name since 2014.
